Back Yart

Back Yart!

A frenzy of furious activity, an explosion of form and colour, Worser Bay kids bursting forth with creativity: what is it?

It’s our biannual Art exhibition of course!

The work on display is the culmination of our school wide Inquiry, What’s in My Backyard?

BACK YART!

There are all kinds of representations of Flora and Fauna, from prints and paintings through to sculptures and installations, done by students of all ages.

Begin your tour on the driveway perhaps where we are flying the flags of the future.  Walk through the classrooms, admiring the work on the tables and walls, then make your way to the outdoor display areas.

Dressed up trees, lit up bird houses, bird baths, fish swimming on a fence.
Stitched trees growing, sculptures hanging, flying forms springing from the earth.
Driftwood drifting, lanterns glowing.
Watch out for the skeletal beasts with their sadly jangling bones!

Enjoy and participate in the excitement!

Art Exhibition Week

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Please note that due to the preparation for the art exhibition, we will not be running our regular literacy program. There will be no spelling testing this week and the children may bring home books to read that they have seen before. Please take this opportunity to focus on fluency, expression and identifying high frequency words, when reading these books.

ART INVESTIGATION AND EXPLORATION

In Tautoru we have been working with a variety of materials to create and explore in preparation for our art celebration.

It has been fantastic to see children sharing ideas and working together to create pieces of art.

Tip Trip and what we learned

In the middle of last term we went to the tip to explore what's in our backyard and inspire some ways we can help to maintain our wider backyard.  Here is a presentation to show what we learned and some of the ways it made us feel.  We are now in charge of the reducing, reusing and recycling of the school.

20 Ways to Reuse Toilet Rolls

Here are some creative ideas of things you could do with toilet rolls!

Sustainability

We have enrolled in the sustainability unit of the What's For Lunch programme.  Every week we will be learning about a different resource and how we can be sustainable with this resource.  We will be doing science experiments around each resource and have follow up readings.  This week the resource is water.  One of the coolest things we learned is that some of the water we have today was around when the dinosaurs were around!

ART TRIP

Tautoru had an amazing time roaming through the streets of Wellington on the hunt for art.
